The Judicial Service Commission is established under Article 171 of the Constitution of Kenya and operationalized by the Judicial Service Act No.1 of 2011.

The Commission is mandated to promote and facilitate the independence and accountability of the Judiciary and the efficient, effective and transparent administration of justice under Article 172 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Dorcas Oduor, OGW, EBS, SC the Attorney General was sworn in as a Member of the Judicial Service Commission pursuant to Article 171(2)(e) of the Constitution, effective 23rd August 2024. The Judicial Service Commission reiterates its commitment to promote and facilitate the effective and efficient administration of justice in Kenya.

  In the last financial year, the Tribunals achieved a remarkable Case Clearance Rate of 111%, resolving 15,173 cases compared to the 13,712 cases filed. Notably, the Rent Restriction Tribunal, the Business Premises Rent Tribunal, the Tax Appeal Tribunal, and the Cooperative Tribunal have led the way with the highest clearance rates.
